PW 2m (144MHz) QRP Contest, Sunday 10th of June 2018

The club intend to take part in the Practical Wireless 2m Contest on the Sunday the 10th of June, 2018.

The club will head up to Llanllwni Mountain and set up a beam, a radio and a BBQ. Setup will be from 9am local time ready for the start of the competition at 09:00 UTC (10:00 Local, BST)

Please bring appropriate clothing, wet weather gear and a sun hat and sun cream – we have had all types of weather up there before.

We hope you can join us for the event (and please bring something for the BBQ), or failing that, please join us on air!

Laugharne Amateur Radio Rally, 24th March

The Laugharne Annual Radio Rally is being held on Saturday the 24th of March 2018 at 10am at the Memorial Hall, Laugharne, SA33 4QH.

Expect trade stalls, tea, coffee, Welsh cakes. Also this year we will be hosting a Microwave symposium in conference room. More details on that from Peter Harston GW4JQP pharston@gmail.com

Season’s Greetings!

Our last meeting of 2017 traditionally has a seasonal & socialising theme, so why not come along and meet up with some old friends and catch up with what is happening in the club?

CARS Mince Pies & Social Night

Please bring some cake or mince pies for our last meeting of the year, a social night to eat, drink and be merry.
Our new Chairman John Hodder will also be adding a few festive words as well for sure.
So do pop along for an enjoyable and relaxing time.
Make it even more of a fun occasion and wear your Xmas jumper etc!

The mince pie and social evening will be held at the usual CARS venue:

Rig Test Session

On Tuesday the 4th of July Peter GW4JQP brought in his Marconi 2955 test set  and ran a series of tests on members’ radios, explaining how to check your set for spurious harmonics etc.

It was a very enjoyable evening. Thank you Peter!

GC4YCT/P Taking Part in the PW 2M VHF Competition 2017

The club hit the road mountain, Llanllwni Mountain in fact at locator IO72wa, and set up a 2m station to take part in the Practical Wireless VHF competition on Sunday the 11th of June 2017.

All up 25 contacts were made in 13 different squares.

The first contacts made were from Kent and the Isle of Man.

A huge thank you to all who worked us and an even bigger thank you to all the club members who braved the wind and rain to attend to make the event a success.

Merry Christmas from Carmarthen Amateur Radio Society

Another great year at the Carmarthen Amateur Radio Society.

A huge thank you to all the members for making this a great club.

Two rally events at Laugharne, PW Competition on top of the mountain,  great progress with the repeaters as well as getting more amateurs trained and licensed.

Construction Competition, 20th December – POSTPONED

POSTPONED A FEW MONTHSNEW DATE TBA

Yes you guessed it !!!
The second meeting of December will be a construction competition.
The idea is to demonstrate your soldering and assembly skills.
Also the ability to use second hand components in an innovative way.
Kits are permitted even Pixies.
Prize for the entry considered most innovative..interesting.
Completed projects only please.

LAUGHARNE ‘TIN SHED’ RALLY, 1st October

Time to clear your shack, shed and attic and meet old and new friends at the “Tin Shed”, Laugharne.

The Tin Shed Experience

Open from 10am till 2 pm on Saturday 1 October.
Free Admission Free Tables (Beer Available !!) Also Tea Coffee Welsh Cakes and Bacon Rolls.
Why not make a day of it bring the family and cruise one of the prettiest towns in West Wales.
The “Tin Shed” is located next door to venue of main March Laugharne Rally.
Please park in church car park as normal.
