Hi
At our next meeting on 17th January there will be a talk on the Elecraft K1 CW transceiver.
A project I am currently building.
This is a kit which can be put together by anyone with basic soldering skills.
The assembly instructions are very thorough…
One of the features of the design is simple inbuilt diagnostics for fault finding and alignment.
A comparison with the Rockmite will also considered.

It is hoped to start running classes in the very near future for the Intermediate as about 7 members were keen to progress to this level. There may also be a Foundation course as a number of people have shown an interest. An excellent turnout of members last night. Thanks everyone.

24GHz & 47GHz talk

Our first meeting of 2016 was a very interesting one indeed.

Matthew gave us a little talk on some of his projects on the 12GHz, 24GHz and 47GHz bands.

We were all blown away with how tiny the aperture was for 47GHz.

If you are interested in Microwave communications you might want to look into the Dubus Magazine.

The UK representative for Dubus is Roger Blackwell GM4PMK. 2016 subscription is now due and is €25.

NEXT MEETING: Mince & Morse 15th December

Ever played Chinese Whispers? We may just set up a very long table, get everybody to sit in a row and see if we can send a message all the way down the table and see what comes out the far end!

Oh yes, don’t forget to bring some lovely mince pies with you to share!

RF Testing Night

We had a great night on the 17th of November, a RF Testing night.

We tested the output of a few rigs and found that they were to spec, and also tested the sensitivity of a few rigs with a RF source.

A huge thank you to all who brought in equipment for us to play with!
